Green tea and sweet beans.....many hours in the making!!!

I have had a very busy few weeks....piles of quilting to get through (and some more!!),  preparing for Malvern quilt show and cutting/making for a local craft fair!  Orders are flying out for fabrics and patterns and I am really being kept out of mischief!   The woollies are of course having their fair share of the attention too!
I have lots of pictures to show...
These pictures show Kate Findlays latest art quilts....and she kindly allowed me to have free reign with the quilting...great fun to do and about fifteen to twenty coloured threads later, the 'northern lights' or seascapes started to evolve...

I do so love freehand quilting...the longarm machine is wonderful for drawing and making texture on fabrics.  The shiny fabrics Kate used are perfect for showcasing the stitches and the gradual shading in tones is just perfect!  Thanks Kate for bringing these to me!!

The next photos are my green tea and sweet beans quilt which I started about two years ago from Amitie textiles in Australia.  Jen Kingwell's designs are fabulous to see and a real enjoyable challenge to complete.  I still have the borders to do, but I'm nearly there now..

The photos are not brilliant, but you can see the detail!!  I just love this quilt..
I have also been trying out some fabric crochet using leftover 21/2" strips from bindings.  I think this might turn into a floor mat..its rather like a rope effect and it is becoming quite heavy!!

Inspired by the handwork in the green tea quilt, I have been drafting some Japanese patterns to create some cushions...this is one I have finished!
Then there is a quilt for Mr Zach too..
I used the cuddle fabric on the back of this one and it is really lovely and warm!    And of course, a picture of the boy!!
Lastly, a modern baby/lap quilt...using some of my new fabrics from my online store!
Off to quilt a Dear Jane quilt this morning...this will take some time....
Until next time.....

Lots to do.....

Yesterday, it was Mr RC's birthday!!!  We went out for a lovely meal and had a relaxing day!

A day off from the pile of quilts in my studio.  On Saturday, we took all our fabrics to Region 6 Quilters Guild day in Charvil and had a lovely welcome!!  Thank you to all my customers..good to chat and meet new and old alike.  And also a chance to take some of my new ranges...just love Posy by Moda, especially this one...

And this one......

I must show you one of the quilts that was sent out recently...Valerie had pieced a pineapple log cabin quilt in red, green and cream for me to complete.  It took ages, but we were both really happy with the results.

Until next time...

A cold, blustery wind whipped day.....

Well, the woollies and I have had a very chilly walk this morning...the woods are magnificent this time of year, blown in all directions and yet glimmerings of green shoots to come amongst the crispy leaves of last autumn and the clawing fingers of the trees!  I just love it up there....
Fed and watered, my two are now lying on the back of the sofa totally oblivious of anything and everything!! (except perhaps the mention of 'ball')  I am taking the opportunity to sit and enjoy my morning coffee and rest my somewhat aching back...dont know what is causing this!!
Quilts are aplenty this week...
I love this one although it was a little tricky to do....

Maybe I just like the girlie pink...so pretty!
Another really beautiful quilt was made by Sue in the style of William Morris

Such detail and wonderfully sewn up.  And lastly but not least, Isabelle's quilt....so cute!

Still lots more quilts to finish at the running chicken household...so off to studio go I.....
Until next time.....

Cough, cough....

Oh isn't it horrible to get a cold!!  Always leaves me with a cough...

Dog walking gets me out and about in the morning, then quilting in the afternoon and evening!  And a little time for my own sewing....

Snowy days, more quilts and modern fabrics...

This is the view from my back window....all looks very pretty but we are so not equipped to deal with snow in the UK!!!  The woollies have been sent into a frenzy by all the white stuff..Raffi spends most of her time burying her ball and trying to find it again, then rushes after Zach as they race around the garden!!
Meanwhile, F's quilts are nearly done...this is one of my favourites..

I have also been experimenting with some thread tidy/armchair tidy designs and there is a new bird on the block!!!  Mr Zach is not sure of it.....

The pincushion can be removed, loose threads can be popped in the bucket and scissors etc can be kept safe in the pockets...

Keep safe and warm in this cold weather.....until next time!
